At the beginning of May we completed our time at the Jerusalem Spring Fair. The event was very successful, both in terms of raising the profile of Christ Church and ITAC, getting people onto the compound to meet the Christ Church community and the funds raised for the Mercy Fund – a total of £4,000.00!!
Paul says: “I had a conversation (dressed as a British bobby) with a religious Jewish lady tour guide at the gates of Christ Church. She didn’t have a good image of Christians following an encounter with a particularly insensitive Jewish believer. She told me she had no time for Christians who wanted to "convert Jews" but was intrigued by what was going on inside. When I explained about the fundraising that was happening and the meeting of the cultures, she said she might be persuaded to change her mind about Christians; maybe they aren’t so bad after all. She gave me contact details and asked for David Pileggi to contact her.”
Janey says: "What an extraordinary event! A group of people from the UK go to Jerusalem and put on a typically English style spring fair - complete with Fish ‘n Chips and Tombola - only CMJ could do this!"
