On Sunday 17th April, St Simon’s Church invited our Youth Coordinator, Steph, to lead their youth group. St Simon’s is the Church of one of the CMJ Trustees, Cameron Collington.

Steph speaking to the Church congregation about CMJ and why Young People need to know about the Jewish Roots of our faith.

On Sunday 17th April, our Youth Coordinator, Steph, was invited to lead the young people of St Simon’s Church in their Sunday morning session. What followed was an hour of hilarity, “beauty pagaentry” and sword fights, as “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” became “Esther saves the day”!

Queen Vashti (in red) banished with the classic hit, “Go on now go! Walk out the door! Don’t turn around now, you’re not welcome anymore!” while Esther (in white) watches from the sidelines.

The evil Haman (complete with angry Hulk mask) looks terrifying as he plots the downfall of the Jewish people of King Xerxes Kingdom.

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place... Who knows whether you have attained royal status for such a time as this?

The seriousness of the message though, on a personal level for the group, came from Esther 4:14. It is my hope that in doing this type of event, the next generation of Church - including potential future leaders, gets a passion and understanding that the Hebrew Scriptures are very much relevant to them in their own daily lives.”

St Simon’s Youth Leaders, Danny & Pip emailed: “Thanks for coming and giving our youth a fun and interesting session, which we are sure taught the kids plenty. We enjoyed it! We look forward to seeing you again at St Simon’s.”

If you would like to book the Youth Team for your own youth meeting, please email Steph: stephg@cmj.org.uk
