On Sunday 6th September, our CEO, Rev Alex Jacob was invited to speak at Stamford Hill United Church. He had a blessed time with the congregation he visited.

During the summer months, Alex had the opportunity to join with a number of people who meet together on a monthly basis at Stamford Hill. The purpose of this gathering of people from various Jewish-related outreach ministries, is to speak to local Jewish Community about the Messiah. In order to demonstrate his support of what the local Churches are already accomplishing in Stamford Hill, Alex connected with the Church leaders to offer them his support, which lead to an invitation to speak.

Alex says, "It was good to be able to preach at Stamford Hill United Church (URC and Baptist) on Sunday (6th). I was warmly welcomed by the small yet out-going congregation and a number of people chatted with me afterwards and were interested in some of the CMJ books and leaflets I had brought. There was also interest in inviting CMJ back to do some outreach training.

I was asked to preach on the lectionary readings, Psalm 146 and Mark 7:24-30 (the faith of a Syrophoenician Women). Initially the Gospel reading may not appear to be a helpful text for exploring Jewish mission, however I felt it is, in many ways, a key text in making us explore the core Jewish mission context of Jesus and the early Church community.

Preaching in and around Stamford Hill is part of a bigger plan of building genuine ministry partnerships between local Churches and the Street Outreach Team which witnesses during the summer most weeks in Stamford Hill. Hopefully my visit may lead to more opportunities to serve local Churches and to strengthen an authentic witness to Jewish people in the local area."
