EVANGELISM

To the Jew First Tent 4 WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

Evangelism is proclaiming and demonstrating the message of the Good News of Jesus Christ and opening the way by the power of the Holy Spirit for people to receive the gift of God's forgiveness and new birth. CMJ believes that it has a calling and a responsibility to not only participate in world wide evangelism but also to focus on Jewish evangelism ('..to the Jew first' Romans 1:16). This focus can be seen in our mission statement, which states: "To encourage Jewish people to come to faith in Jesus as their Messiah, to support them in serving Him as Lord in the light of God's purposes for them, and to equip the Church to be involved in this mission."

WHO DOES IT?

At one level, all CMJ staff and supporters have important roles in evangelism. In fact, every Christian is called to be a witness to the Good News of Jesus (1 Peter 3:15). However, sharing the Gospel with Jewish people and training others to do so is the primary role for CMJ's evangelists, who are located one in London and one in Leeds and Manchester. Both our full time evangelists are Jewish believers in Jesus and have much personal gifting and experience of working in partnership with local Churches, Messianic congregations, volunteers and with other mission agencies. They seek to support the spiritual growth of Messianic Jews and Messianic Jewish congregations in the UK. Both of our evangelists have joint responsibility for developing evangelism through street outreach, witnessing at New Age events, working in partnership with churches in Jewish areas through the STEP Programme (Strategic Training and Evangelism Programme), providing evangelism resources, and engaging in pastoral follow up.

Our evangelist team is headed up by Dr Sam Gordon, and observes clearly defined guidelines and works within the context of CMJ's evangelism strategy.

To the Jew First Tent 3 OUR EVANGELISTS

It is the aim of our evangelists to share with Jewish people in a culturally sensitive way, using both the Old and New Covenant (Tanakh and Brit Hadasha). Our evangelists engage Jewish people one on one or in a group and do so in a courteous and rigorous manner. To find out more, or if you are interested in contacting our evangelists, please visit the CMJ Evangelists page.

Jews believing in Jesus (Yeshua) is not new; the first century church was made up of only Jewish believers in Yeshua in fact. Later, gentiles also came to faith in the same Jewish Messiah, along with rabbis, scholars, scientists, and many others through the centuries.
