CMJ's history
goes back to the early 19th century when a group of leading Christians,
including men such as Lord Shaftesbury, William Wilberforce and Charles Simeon,
began to have a concern for Jewish people. Who was taking the Gospel to them?
Who was speaking up for their rights and concerns? Would they one day return to
their own homeland as prophesied in the Scriptures? CMJ is one of the longest
serving evangelical societies associated with the Anglican Church and a pioneer
in modern ministry among Jewish people.
CMJ(UK) and ITAC/ CHRIST CHURCH
MINISTRIES JERUSALEM are legally independent sister societies with different
methods of fulfilling a united aim of being a Christian ministry among Jewish
people. References to each should not be understood as relevant to the other
unless this is made explicit in official documentation The Society has
its UK headquarters in St Albans.
Shoresh
conducts guided study tours of Israel, helping to assist those who desire a
deeper look at the roots of their faith in the land of Jesus.
Bringing
the
Bible to Life and helping Christians
discover new levels of meaning to their faith through understanding the
Jewishness of the New Testament forms the basis of one of CMJ's three aims,
that of education. The other two aims are encouragement and evangelism.
Three main ITAC centres are previewed in
